Overview
For early signs of facial aging, a nonsurgical skin tightening treatment may be a good option to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the BTL Protégé Elite is an advanced system for noninvasive facial skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. The Protégé Elite uses radiofrequency (RF) waves to disrupt collagen fibers within the skin and stimulate new collagen production. New collagen is produced over 2 – 3 months, resulting in tighter skin and reduced wrinkles. For the right patient, significant results can be achieved around the eyes, as well as in the cheeks, jaw line, and neck. This device can also be used elsewhere on the body such as the arms, abdomen, and thighs. The Protégé Elite achieves uniform treatment and outstanding results with increased safety and no pain, which is why it is preferred by Dr. Alan Brackup.

Procedure technique
RF skin rejuvenation uses controlled heat to target underlying skin tissues to help with collagen production. The Registered Nurse will use a machine, which generates the electromagnetic waves, and guide it over the marked areas. Coupling gel will be applied to act as another layer of protection for the skin surface. This treatment is most effective with skin irregularities such as wrinkles on areas of the face, neck, tummy, arms, legs and buttocks.
Protege Elite
The science behind the Protégé Elite helps to control and automatically eliminate energy peaks. This means there is no sudden surge in energy, and the right amount of treatment is given to each area, independent of skin thickness or resistance. The Protégé consequently achieves uniform treatment and outstanding results with increased safety and minimal to no discomfort.
What to Expect
There can be a little redness right after the procedure, and rarely a small amount of swelling that rapidly resolves. Tightening sensations may be felt right immediately after the treatment, and will progress as the weeks pass to result in smoother and more supple skin. The positive effects can last for 2 years or longer. Multiple treatments are necessary and we typically recommend three treatments 4-6 weeks apart to begin.
RF Skin Rejuvenation FAQs
Who Is It For?
Those who have skin irregularities, such as wrinkles, and are looking for a non-surgical cosmetic treatment. Since this procedure relies on your own body’s ability to regenerate collagen typically we recommend this to our patients who are between the ages of 25-50. Generally, it is a safe approach with no downtime and minimal risks. If the skin shows signs of laxity, it is understood that there is a significant loss of collagen or fat tissues which help keep the skin tight. RF rejuvenation helps reproduce these substances to bring back the skin’s youthful shape.
How Long Does it Last?
Not an easy question to answer. The procedure produces permanent results, but aging continues. Each individual’s genetics and lifestyle are different, so we can’t predict when a patient will desire additional enhancement.
Single or Multiple Sessions?
The standard protocol is 3 treatments spaced one month apart. Each treatment takes up to an hour to two hours depending on the areas treated. If patients desire, treatments every 6 months or yearly will enhance the initial results.
Is A Lift Better?
A lift is an invasive procedure in which excess skin is excised. This may be the best approach for excessive sagging because a non-invasive treatment may not be able to fully correct sagging skin. Protégé Elite is beneficial for those who have mild wrinkles or creases. Come visit us for a consultation and we can talk about all the options which might serve you best.
