For early signs of facial aging, a nonsurgical laser skin tightening treatment may be a good option to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the BTL Protégé Elite is an advanced system for noninvasive facial skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. The Protégé Elite uses radiofrequency (RF) waves to disrupt collagen fibers within the skin and stimulate new collagen production. New collagen is produced over 2 – 3 months, resulting in tighter skin and reduced wrinkles. Dramatic results can be achieved around the eyes, as well as in the cheeks, jaw line, and neck. Laser skin tightening can also be used elsewhere on the body such as the arms, abdomen, and thighs. The Protégé Elite achieves uniform treatment and outstanding results with increased safety and no pain, which is why it is preferred by Dr. Alan Brackup, a double board-certified cosmetic surgeon and ophthalmologist, at Cosmetic Surgery Specialists in Langhorne, Bucks County, PA.
"My search was over after being referred to Dr. Brackup!!!. My son's wedding was coming up in August, 2016. My eyes were horrible .When I smiled you saw know eye's. I met one surgeon that was scared to remove the lower bags. How would that look? Didn't make sense. With Time running out by chance I when to a new hairdresser, that had her eyes done and look beautiful. Even though Dr. had a busy schedule,he made it a point to fit me in for June 28th. I was assured my eye's would look beautiful by August 20th. Dr. Brackup was right. I had Upper and lower procedures done. Dr. sculpted my eyes to compliment my high cheek bones. They are beautiful. At 60 years old I look twenty years younger!! Dr. Brackup and his entire staff were kind and honestly the best experience I ever had. He is gifted with hands of gold. He only works from the neck up and is a oculoplastic surgeon. My confident's is through the roof. I walk with my head high for the first time in a very long time. Thank you, Dr. Brackup for setting this butterfly free!! Before pictures click on Rosemarie P. Thanks"- R.P. / Yelp / Apr 06, 2017

"Dr. Brackup did an extremely natural and beautiful job on my face. My left eyelid was drooping, and it was starting to affect my vision. I figured since I had to go under to get my eye fixed, I might as well fix the other things that were bothering me, which included the beginning of both a turkey neck and jowls, as well as bad skin from 54 years of living. I’m so glad I did everything at once. It’s four weeks later, and I look so NATURAL. No one would suspect that I had work done. But I’m thrilled to tell whoever asks about how talented Dr. Brackup is. If you are thinking of fixing whatever is bothering you, do it. Dr. Brackup and his staff takes great care of you from pre-op to post-op."- R.S. / Google / Oct 26, 2020
"Dr. Brackup did my facelift including fat transfer in July 2020. I’m 68 and had deep jowl lines and sagging skin. I could not be happier with the procedure and the amazing results. My downtime and bruising were minimal and I looked good enough to see my young granddaughters just eight days after surgery. It was so much easier than I expected! And I’m so happy with the results – just wish I didn’t have to wear a Covid mask!!!! Dr Brackup and his staff are the best and I highly recommend his practice if you are considering cosmetic surgery or other procedures."- C.S. / Google / Oct 01, 2020

RF skin rejuvenation uses controlled heat to target underlying skin tissues to help with collagen production. The doctor will use a machine, which generates the sound waves, and guides it over the marked areas. Numbing creams and coupling gel may be applied to act as another layer of protection for the skin surface. In some cases, a cold blast or cooling gel is applied to the patient’s skin to ease any discomfort. This treatment is most effective with skin irregularities such as wrinkles, stretch marks or cellulite on areas of the face, neck, tummy, arms, legs and buttocks.
The procedure is technique-dependent, and in order to prevent a complication such as a blister, the operator must understand and perform the procedure properly.
The science behind the Protégé Elite controls and automatically eliminates energy peaks. This means there is no sudden surge in energy, and the right amount of treatment is given to each area, independent of skin thickness or resistance. The Protégé consequently achieves uniform treatment and outstanding results with increased safety and NO PAIN.
What to Expect
RF skin treatment sessions may be uncomfortable for the patient because of the heating sensation. Pain is limited, and some machines have built-in cooling sprays to ease any discomfort. There can be a little redness right after the procedure, and rarely a small amount of swelling that rapidly resolves. Tightening sensations may be felt right immediately after the treatment, and will progress as the weeks pass to result in smoother and more supple skin. The positive effects can last for 2 years or longer. It is important for the patient to follow the post-treatment care prescribed by the surgeon.

RF Skin Rejuvenation FAQs
Who Is It For?
Those who have skin irregularities, such as wrinkles, stretch marks, or cellulite and are looking for non-surgical cosmetic treatments may be good candidates for an RF skin rejuvenation treatment. Generally, it is a safe approach with no downtime and minimal risks. If the skin shows signs of laxity, it is understood that there is a significant loss of collagen or fat tissues which help keep the skin tight. RF rejuvenation helps reproduce these substances to bring back the skin’s youthful shape.
How Long Does it Last?
Not an easy question to answer. The procedure produces permanent results, but aging continues. Each individual’s genetics and lifestyle are different, so we can’t predict when a patient will desire an enhancement.
Single or Multiple Sessions?
The standard protocol is 2 treatments spaced 7-14 days apart. Each treatment takes up to an hour and a half depending on the areas treated. If patients desire, treatments every 6 months or yearly will enhance the initial results.
Is A Lift Better?
A lift is an invasive procedure in which excess skin is excised and the cut is sutured up. This may be the best approach for excessive sagging because an RF treatment may not be able to fully correct sagging skin. The RF approach is beneficial for those who have mild to moderate cases of wrinkles or creases. In some cases, the doctor may recommend RF prior to a lift to stimulate collagen, which will also help the healing process once the patient undergoes surgery.
