What is Morpheus8?

Morpheu8s is a skin treatment that delivers a combination of microneedling and radiofrequency energy that remodels and contours the face and body. Morpheus8 stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis and can also be used to decrease fat in localized areas. The goal is to achieve an anti-aging effect by tightening the skin and improving wrinkles. Both face and body contour can be improved without surgery.

How does Morpheus8 work?

By using microneedling coupled with radiofrequency, Morpheus 8 is able to deliver energy directly into the tissue that stimulates skin tightening as well as improvement in fine lines. This energy can also be focused into localized areas to help improve neck and body fat contour irregularities.

Does Morpheus8 really work?

Having invested a considerable sum of money in the device, I certainly hope so! Seriously, I have bought multiple nonsurgical tightening devices in the past that promised to tighten skin without surgery, and all have failed to achieve consistent, predictable results. However, the Morpheus8 is a combination microneedling radiofrequency device that actually does just that. The data show that the Morpheus8 delivers where others have failed. This is certainly what we have found in our own patient population. We have been extremely pleased with our own patient results and satisfaction. Results are real, and patients are happy. Morpheus 8 has been an exciting addition to our treatment armamentarium.

What areas can be treated?

Morpheus8 can be used on any area of the face or body that would benefit from skin tightening. The most commonly treated areas are the face and neck. Wrinkles, skin discoloration, and scars are also suitable for treatment.

Why is a Morpheus8 treatment at Cosmetic Surgery Specialists better?

Without numbing the skin, Morpheus8 hurts. The deeper the needles penetrate, the more pain there is. However, the deeper the treatment the better the results. See the problem? Our advantage is that all treatments are performed by registered nurses, who have been trained by Dr. Brackup to administer effective pain control techniques that other practioners are neither allowed nor trained to deliver. This might include the most advanced topical anesthetic agents, followed by injections to more completely numb the face, neck and body to allow for deeper, more effective treatments. For patients who can arrange a ride home, we will also prescribe oral medications if desired. Our goal to maximize your comfort and your results for the most dramatic improvement possible. Most patients find even the most aggressive treatments virtually painless using our pain control methods.

Another important difference in Morpheus8 treatment at Cosmetic Surgery Specialists is that we use platelet-derived exosomes together with the Morpheus8 device to maximize outcomes. Exosomes are produced by human cells to deliver information to adjacent cells. They have been used in a myriad of applications and are revolutionizing regenerative medicine. In the aesthetic sphere, they have been shown to be useful for skin regeneration and hair loss, among other applications. We use exosomes as part of our post-treatment regimen to optimize skin regeneration. The cost of the exosome treatment is included in our treatment quote.

Is Morpheus8 as good as surgery for skin tightening?

Simply, no. However there is huge population of prospective patients who either are not ready for surgery, or just will not undergo surgery. Young patients with early signs of facial aging, especially along the jawline or neck, will benefit from Morpheus8. Older patients with more extensive aging changes can also be treated, although they must understand the limitations of Morpheus8. It is not a face and necklift, but for the right patient it can achieve very satisfying results. The appropriate expectations are essential.

Questions and Answers about Morpheus8 Treatments

Q. How many treatments will I need and when can I expect to see results?

A. Most patients receive a series of 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. Improvement is seen for at least 3 months after the final treatment, so patience is important.

Q. Is Morpheus8 safe for all skin types?

A. Yes. Morpheus8 is a color blind technology that can be used on all skin types.

Q. When can I put on makeup after a treatment?

A. Most patients put on makeup 2 days after their procedure. Swelling and redness typically last 7-10 days depending upon how aggressively an area is treated. Body treatments take longer for full recovery.

Q. Is a Morpheus8 treatment result permanent and how long does it last?

A. The results of the tissue remodeling produced by Morpheus8 treatments are permanent. However, aging continues. The current recommendation is that treatments be performed annually.

Q. Are results guaranteed?

A. Unfortunately, no. I added the Morpheus8 to our treatment options with the knowledge that excellent results are expected for the vast majority of patients. This has been confirmed in our own experience, the scientific literature, and in discussions at meetings with respected colleagues. However, we cannot promise results for any individual patient, as we cannot predict how each person’s tissue will respond to the treatment.

Q. Can Morpheus8 be combined with other treatments?

A. Emphatically, yes. Most patients who are good candidates for Morpheus would also benefit from injectable treatments such as Botox and fillers to complete their nonsurgical rejuvenation. Intense pulsed light (IPL) can be administered in conjunction with Morpheus 8 to improve skin discoloration. Other skin treatments are also available to maximize and maintain results. We want you as a patient for life, and will customize a plan that will achieve the best possible results for you. We pride ourselves on offering only the best, by the best.
