Dr Brackup and Staff Are First Rate! - I'm now about seven weeks post surgery and I am thrilled with the results of my deep plane facelift. After turning 60, it became clear that fillers were an ineffective waste of money to treat worsening jowls and sagging. Tired of a losing battle with gravity, and feeling much younger than I was looking, I turned to Dr. Brackup after research on this site and others, and after meeting the doc and his team. I just got back from my 1 week post- op appointment with Dr Brackup. I had a facelift and fully ablative CO2 laser done. I can't even begin to explain what an amazing experience it was from the time I made my appointment until today. Happy with the results so far and it's only one week out - I just got back from my 1 week post-op appointment with Dr Brackup. I had a fully ablative CO2 laser and a facelift . I can't begin to express how pleased I am with the entire process from my first phone call through today. I am a 55-year-old male. I began looking into facelift surgery in February. At first, and because of the advice of a friend who works in a plastic surgeon’s office, I booked consultations only with those doctors who were Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. Then when I asked my dermatologist for advice, she said that that the particular certification was much less important than experience with the specific procedure I wanted. She explained that the best surgeon was the one who had done the procedure hundreds of times and who had verifiable reviews. Being operated on by somebody who has seen every anomaly made sense and I eventually concluded that what I wanted was a surgeon who only performed facial surgery. I also decided that I did not want to have general anesthesia because of potential complications. In all, I met with six highly regarded surgeons and I liked and respected all of them. Eventually, I chose Dr. Alan Brackup who has three board certifications and a very impressive educational background (Stanford) along with forty verified five star reviews on Realself. When I went to the initial consultation, I was pleased to learn that Dr. Brackup had worked consistently with the same group of people for many years. His surgeries are performed at Saint Mary Medical Center and I also found that this hospital had excellent reviews. I expressed my fear that my results would in some way look unnatural. Dr. Brackup explained in some detail why this would not happen to me. On the morning of the surgery, I was greeted by Dr. Brackup’s team. I was sedated with twilight anesthesia and it was very effective - I do not remember anything. I only took the prescribed pain medication for the first three days and then switched to Tylenol. I am now three months post and I am very grateful and happy with my results. The look is completely natural. I still experience slight numbness and tingling occasionally. I mention this because it is a normal part of the healing process. The suture lines around my ears are nearly invisible already and I can confidently wear my hair up. I wanted to add that in addition to being very happy with my results, I was also pleased with Dr. Brackup and his staff during the healing process which included suture removal and checkups. More

New Life Starts ! - I’m a physician and a patient. Dr. Brackup first repaired my upper eyelid on one side and then a few years later the other because of ocular myasthenia gravis. I have multiple autoimmune diseases. He did a wonderful job and was so kind and gentle. The result of being ill and a long a contentious divorce left my face looking ravaged and at least 15 years older than I was. I never thought I would ever get plastic surgery ( I have enough doctors in my life) . But my face had become a disability for me. I didn’t think I could start my new life looking so old . So I consulted plastic surgeons close to where I lived in Philadelphia that Dr. Brackup recommended. They were so cold and judgmental. I knew that the only doctor I could trust was Dr. Brackup . 72 Year Old Patient - Newtown, PA - Last month (9/6/16) I had my second procedure with Dr. Alan Brackup. I am a 72 year old woman and had my first procedure - a full facelift - with Dr. Brackup when I was in my 50's, just the right time to check the effects of gravity to my face and neck. Go for it!!!! - Dr. Brackup's confident manner was very reassuring to me when I bravely consulted him about facial surgery. Every time I passed a mirror, I did not recognize myself in the reflection. I needed to do something to turn back the clock. He took time, made recommendations, and was very thoughtful in his approach. I did my homework before my consultation and therefore knew his stellar qualifications and I was pleased that he is also an ophthalmology surgeon. I had my surgery (brow lift, facelift, forehead lift, eyelids, and laser under my eyes and nose) about a month ago. I have already had four follow up visits, all very positive. Dr. Brackup's staff are all knowledgeable, friendly, and happy. Michelle, his nurse, has answered my myriad of questions since day one. The surgery center is privately located so I did not run into anyone I knew. His office is the first one by the entrance, so while you are healing you do not have to be faced by curious onlookers. I didn't look too pretty the first week, but by the end of the second week my looks were acceptable so I could venture out with confidence. Now, at four weeks, I can say I look amazing. 64 Years Old with Turkey Neck - Langhorne, PA - After many years of looking in the mirror to put my makeup on, I would always focus on my turkey neck, jowels and downturned smile. After I found Dr. Brackup, I started with just Botox from my forehead. The doctor and his staff were wonderful. Three things were stopping me from having the face lift. Pain, cost and length of recovery. When I finally had the money, I spoke to the doctor and staff. To my surprise, many of his staff had face lifts so they were able to tell me their personal stories. I finally made my decision to go forward with the face lift. I was very excited at the potential results. To my surprise, there was very little pain afterwards because most of the nerves in your face are numb from the surgery. I didn't go out for about 7 to 10 days but I had very little bruising. The stiches were so well hidden, no one even noticed. I wished I had done this 10 years ago. Best Decision I Ever Made - Langhorne, PA - At age 58, I was getting increasingly despondent about the loss of my youthful good looks. Upon the recommendation of a friend who had her eyes "done," I made an appointment to consult with Dr. Alan B. Brackup, located in Langhorne, Pa. about getting a lower facelift. Dr. Brackup's explanation of the pre-, post-, and actual surgical procedures were comprehensive and I found him and his staff to be very affable and compassionate. Although nervous about it, I found that after having this consultation and due to the care that his office staff took with me days prior to the procedure, my anxiety level was greatly reduced. Just days after the surgery, I was already seeing a vast improvement in my appearance and was able to get back to a minimally normal routine. Thrilled with Result - Face Lift,neck Lift,top and Bottom of Eyes - Langhorne, PA - Took 3 hours,I have ITP so had a lot of bleeding on one side and had to have it redone after stitches were removed because of excessive bleeding. I am upset at my face feeling cement like and my top lip is very droopy on one side.Very swollen under my chin and on my jawline.My eyes appear to have an unfamiliar shap.I am hoping that all will turn out well in the end !Updated on 7 Jun 2013:Had my surgery in April,of this year,Ihad a compilation because of my ITP,although my healing was slower than most it finally has come together and my results are great.This site has allowed me to read all opinions and to speak to others going thru their own problems and to vent concerns to each other !
