Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty (Nasal Sculpting)

While deformities of the nose can be the result of previous injury, for many people the most significant factor is your genetic makeup.  Rhinoplasty involves the surgical correction of the shape of the nose.  Furthermore, breathing problems that result from structural defects of the nose can also be addressed.  Patients commonly express concerns about their noses which include nasal size and width, bumps or depressions of the bridge, a bulbous, drooping, or upturned tip, and crooked shape.  Because each nose is unique, we take a personalized approach to each patient in order to restore overall facial harmony.  Incisions are typically placed inside the nose and across the columella (the soft tissue which separates the nostrils).

Rhinoplasty is done as an outpatient procedure, and a patient can expect to wear an post-operative splint across the bridge of the nose, sometimes with internal splints as well, for the first several days.  A good candidate for this procedure has reached facial skeletal maturity (which occurs during adolescence) and has a positive outlook and realistic goals.
